Europe trip part 2 ----> Barcelona

Hehe. I know, my post about Europe travel have been drag for quite some time. Sorry for the procrastination. Here you go =)

Before we proceed to another destination, we went to my brother's convocation. Their convocation is a bit difference with us. No flowers, no teddy, no gifts. I wonder why. Could it be this is one of their cultures or they just lazy to get one for them? Anyways, their convocation is not as merrier as in UM. No cheerings, no throwing people up high. Just photos session. It was so cold that everyone went in the cafe and get themselves hot drink. Anyway, I feel so proud to see him finish his masters studies. It's never easy especially he worked as a part time in IKEA as well.

So PROUD of you =D

After few days resting in brother's house, we flew to Barcelona. I was expecting something from this place as Barcelona is such a famous place where everyone says it's a nice place to visit and you will be impressed by the building. And well, the first day we arrived, the biggest problem we faced is language problem. People over there hardly speak English. It took us some time to reach our apartment as we couldn't understand what they were saying. But there was an old couple so cute, although they can't speak English, they insisted to tell us how to go to our apartment. In the end, came out with some weird and funny words sounds like Cantonese. But being helpful, is what they are trying to be. This first place we went is Park Guell. It is part of UNESCO World Heritage SiteBasically, it is a garden with lots of art work by Gaudi. The garden is big and full of artistic things such as park bench, mosaic on the wall, Colonnaded footpath, dragon fountain. It was too bad that we didn't get ourselves a guide book before we enter the garden as the guide book contains a lot of information and explanation about every single thing in the garden. So, for my advice, always get yourself a guide book about the particular place you are going to visit so that you won't end up with STARE-AT-THE-STATUE-FOR-10 SECONDS-AND-LEFT- situation.

There is some meaning about the pattern of the mosaic, but then too bad, we didn't get ourselves the guide book before we enter.

The Colonnaded footpath

Something to be mentioned here is people in Barcelona have a very high awareness in being environmental friendly. You could hardly see the people there taking plastic bags. they will always bring their own grocery case when they go for grocery shopping as the picture shown below.

The most impressive thing in Barcelona of course will be the SAGRADA FAMILIA. You will never feel the imposing and magnificient unless you stand in front of it. It took all of our focus once we get down from the train. We cannot refrain from looking at the building and gasped in admiration. It's soooooo beautiful. The carved patterns on the building will finally make you understand why it takes more than 100 years to build it. Basically, the building builds based on the idea of natural scene.

This is part of it. The idea of having such pillar is based on the idea of the tree branch.

It's is still under construction now.

For my suggestion, you must go into the building and take a look. Because it is really worth it. It costs you 11 pound for the entrance and 2.50 pound for taking the lift up to the top of the building. It feels so weird when you need to pay money inside the lift. Hehe.

It is so true to say Barcelona is a place full with artists. People are so creative that they even build something other than the BORED sand castle. Hehe.

I love the beach there. Blue blue sky, crystal clear water. Unlike Port Dickson, you will always get teh tarik colour instead of clear sea water. Surpringly, it was not as cold even when you walk along the beach and the wind blow through your face.

This Ireland guy came here on working vocation purpose. He just loves sun bathing.

La Ramblas is one of the tourist attraction spot. But then I don't really like it. Nothing special. Just shops around and some street performance going.

It was too bad for us that we came on the wrong day. We didn't manage to see the musical fountain show which will only hold it on weekends. So, please remember to make your weekends free for this musical fountain whenver you visit Barcelona.

In short, there is nothing much in Barcelona that really makes me fall in love with her. Maybe disappointment always fills in when you expecting too much from it. But then, Sagrada Familia really makes her a place worth to visit.

Barcelona ---------> city where artisits born.
